Quranic Studies

Curriculum Expectations & Objectives:

Introduction to Allah’s Last Book:
The Quran: Quran as the book of Allah, Quran as Wahi, Quran as the guidance from Allah, Arabic as the language of the Quran; Division of the Quran into Ayah, Surah and Juz; Compilation of the Quran, early Huffas of the Quran, Preservation of the Quran, Makki / Madani Verses

Meaning and Understanding of the Selected Suwar / Verses of the Quran:

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the contents of the Suwar & Verses explaining the assigned Suwar and analyzing various aspects of the surah under study. Understand theme and message and stories of the Holy Quran.

Teachings of the Quran:
Read, comprehend, ponder , internalize and acting upon its teachings.

Knowledge and Comprehension of the Quranic Vocabulary:
Knowledge and understanding of selected words from the various Surahs under study.  Appreciate the linguistic qualities of the Quran, the rhyme, similies and metaphors. Demonstrate understanding of specific words, phrases and terminology used in the Surah that are often repeated.

Tajweed:
Study the rules and art of correct pronunciation and recitation of the Holy Quran. Learn how to apply the rules of tajweed during the recitation.

Recitation:
Practise recitation of the Holy Quran. Increase Fluency and proper pronunciation during recitation.

Units of Study:
Grade 6: 10 units: Holy Quran Juz 1 to 10; Tajweed Rules; Recitation Practice

Grade 7: 10 units: Holy Quran Juz 11 to 20; Tajweed Rules; Recitation Practice

Grade 8: 10 units: Holy Quran Juz 21 to 30; Tajweed Rules; Recitation Practice
