Religious Education

 At the Islamic Foundation School, we strive to equip our students with islamic morals and education. The 'Islamic Studies & Religious Education' is supervised by Shaykh Yusuf Badat in conjunction with the IFS Admin Council.

Islamic Studies is taught by homeroom teachers in grades JK/SK to 8. At IFS we follow the IQRA curriculum and also use other suplimentary material for enhancing the Islamic Studies program.

Quran & Arabic are also taught in grades JK/ SK to 8 by qualified Arabic teachers.

In grades 6, 7 & 8 basic Quranic tafseer is taught along with Quranic vocabulary, recitation and tajweed (science of proper articulation of the Holy Quran)

In High School (grades 9 - 12), students have the option of taking the courses 'Islamic Culture', 'Arabic' and 'World Religions'.

Arabic - High School

This course is designed to enable students to begin to communicate with native speakers of the language of study. Students will use simple language and read age-and language-appropriate passages for various purposes.

Quranic Studies Grades 6, 7 & 8

Quranic Studies

Curriculum Expectations & Objectives:

Introduction to Allah’s Last Book:
The Quran: Quran as the book of Allah, Quran as Wahi, Quran as the guidance from Allah, Arabic as the language of the Quran; Division of the Quran into Ayah, Surah and Juz; Compilation of the Quran, early Huffas of the Quran, Preservation of the Quran, Makki / Madani Verses

Islamic Culture High School Course

This course will cover the fundamentals of faith, pillars of Islam, Prophet of Islam, sources of Islamic legislation, an overview of history as well as discussing contemporary issues facing Muslims in North America.

Akhlaaq / Character Building

AKHLAQ, CLEANLINESS, READINESS:

  • Students must come to school prepared, on time and ready to learn.
  • •Strive to be a good Muslim and a good citizen at all times.
  • •Be punctual, courteous, cooperative, considerate, committed, and strive for excellence.
  • •Be prepared for each lesson and properly equipped with the items you need, such as books, binders, pens, pencils, erasers, etc.
  • •Be silent during the announcements while attendance is being taken, and when instructions are being given.
  • Eating or gum chewing are not allowed in the classroom.
  • •Homework should be done regularly and handed in on time. It should be recorded in your student agenda/planner, which you must have at school each day.
  • At the end of each lesson, and especially in the last period, the room/area should be left. clean and tidy. There should be no litter left behind. Chairs should be stacked neatly. You should not leave until being dismissed by your teacher.
  • •Adhere to all other established rules and routines in the classroom / school and take responsibility for your own actions.
