Admission Policy 2012 - 2013
All new applicants applying for admission to IFS will be expected to complete the following procedure:
1. Write Admission Tests at grade level and in subjects required by the school; score minimum 65%
2. Be interviewed for judging communication skills and suitability.
3. Test for Reciting Quran and for performance of Salaah.
4. Submit two most recent progress reports to:
a. verify levels of achievements, marks % or grades A, B, C etc. and
b. confirm that courses have been completed at academic level suitable for entry to IFS.
5. Submit completed information sheet from the previous school to:
a. confirm that the student does not have special needs and
b. additional proof of good attendance and behaviour record.
6. Confirm that the course choices offered at IFS High School Division are suitable for the candidate.
Admissions are subject to verification upon arrival of OSR. All admissions are conditional for one year and may be terminated if a student is unable to maintain IFS standards.
Upon completion of the above steps, applicant shall complete the following steps to finalize the admission.
1. Pay Registration Fee of $25.00 – Non Refundable
2. Bank authorization for payment of fee each month on first day of the month
3. Books, supplies and uniform payments as required
4. Completion of all permission forms, Immunization record and Insurances
5. Take a tour of the school building – a tour guide will accompany the student
6. Meet with teachers and check the location of the rooms – See Time Table
7. Familiarize with code of conduct and school expectations – See Agenda Book
8. Meet with a representative of the Student Government
Fee must be paid promptly. If fees are not paid by 10th of the month, students will be withdrawn from school immediately and without notice.
Foreign students who have been selected for admission to IFS must provide Student Visa to
Canada and pay full year Tuition fee before admission is confirmed. It will be the responsibility of the foreign students and their parents to make all other arrangements for stay in Canada such as boarding, lodging, transportation and arrangement for guardianship.

PROCEDURES FOR ADMISSION CALLING
It is the responsibility of the parents to make sure all their most recent information, address, phone numbers, emails etc. are updated on school records. School has the right to cancel admissions for lack of most recent information. It is also the responsibility of the parents to keep in touch with the school office to check on the status of their children’s applications for admission.
1. Applications are taken throughout the year for each grade waiting list and placed in the order of date received.
2. Review all waiting lists – All Information/ lines must be completed.
3. Confirm that Fee is paid
4. Establish calling log - In order of applications received.
JK Admission Calling Procedure
1. Send out JK admission letters/or email in February.
2. Follow up with a phone call. Leave a message.
3. Wait for reply till expiry of deadline given on admission letter. If no response
4. Call home or cell to inform them, your seat is cancelled and given to the next person in line.
SK and Grade 1 Admission Calling Procedure
1. Send letters home to applicant – First come first served on waiting list and number of seats available.
2. Follow up with a phone call. Leave a message.
3. Wait for reply till expiry of deadline given on admission letter. If no response
4. Call home or cell to inform them, your seat is cancelled and given to the next person in line.
Grade 2 to Grade 12 Admission Calling Procedure
1. Send letters to all candidates Grade 2 – 12 informing them to write Entrance Test on date and time specified in the letter.
2. Follow up with a phone call. Leave a message.
3. Students write the Entrance Test at the designated place, date and time.
4. Results of Entrance Test are compiled and Admission Priority List is prepared according to the marks obtained.
5. Based on Marks Obtained on Entrance Test and the number of seats available, IFS Admission Committee will call for interviews, only those candidates who qualify.
6. Parents of all other candidates may wish to call school office to check the following:
a. Test results of their child
b. Their position on the Admissions priority list.
c. Number of seats available for admission.
7. Admissions Committee will make recommendations for admission to the Principal.
8. Principal shall approve the admissions on probation for one year subject to authentications of previous records, OSR, student’s academic performance, good behaviour and no special needs issues.
9. Approved students will be required to visit school office to finalize admission formalities including payment of fees, references, report cards etc. within 5 days after interviews.
